New this year will also be the addition of a “Critic’s Choice” Award presented by Amanda Gunther, owner of Theatrebloom, another local theater review website.

“As one of the newest groups in town, we really appreciate The Bad Oracle’s impressive commitment to the small and emerging theatre community in Baltimore,” says Brad Norris, Founding Artistic Producer of Cohesion Theatre Company. “We were incredibly thrilled to find out we were nominated in several categories for our first show, Coriolanus, as well as the show that brought us all together, Edward II at Spotlighters Theatre. Being nominated for several B.U.L.S.H.I.T. Awards in our first year as a company is a huge thrill for us, and we are excited to compete with and root for all the other theatres on January 26th!”

B.U.L.S.H.I.T. Award nominees represent a diversity of talents, with innovative and inspiring work from multiple Baltimore-based companies focusing on a wide variety of work.

““GMT is truly honored to be up for seven B.U.L.S.H.I.T. Award nominations and we are incredibly grateful for The Bad Oracle’s support of GMT and our weird and playful work,” says Sarah Weissman, Marketing Director for Glass Mind Theatre.  “It’s nice to have an outlet solely dedicated to small theatre in town because there’s such a wealth of talent here. We’re in amazing company with our fellow nominees. All of GMT will be attending the live Awards and we can’t wait!”

Tickets are now on sale.  All proceeds from the ticket sales of the event go toward The Actors Need a Living (A.N.A.L.) Fund to support actor stipends for small theaters in Baltimore.

About The Bad Oracle

The Bad Oracle is a theater review website focusing on the small (i.e. community) theaters of Baltimore.  The mission of the site is to shine a spotlight on local theaters that may not attract significant media attention otherwise.  While often tongue-in-cheek, The Bad Oracle strives to present thoughtful, thorough, and honest (not mean-spirited or pandering) reviews that support and encourage Baltimore’s small theater community.

About The Actors Need a Living (A.N.A.L.) Fund

The Actors Need a Living (A.N.A.L.) Fund is a new initiative at The Bad Oracle.  Created as a response to concerns that small theaters often cannot afford to pay their actors, ANAL Awards will be given twice yearly to support actor stipends in small, non-profit theaters in Baltimore city.
